Unisoc Tiger T620 (T7280): Tests - Faster than T616, but Notably Weaker than Helio G99

The Unisoc Tiger T620 is a budget 4G platform, significantly faster than the T606 and T616, but falling short of the Snapdragon 685 and especially the Helio G99. Two Cortex-A75 cores provide adequate speed for browsing, user interfaces, and common applications, while the Mali-G57 MP1 remains the chip's weak point. In newer devices, the same processor appears under the name Unisoc T7280.

CPU Performance: Notably Faster than T606 and T616

The two Cortex-A75 cores operate at speeds up to 2.2 GHz, while six Cortex-A55 cores handle lighter and background tasks. Although the Cortex-A75 architecture is aging, the high frequency helps the T620 considerably outperform the T606 and T616.

In Geekbench 6, devices with the T620 typically score around 450-500 points in single-core performance and 1400-1550 points in multi-core performance.

This level is sufficient for browsing, messaging, navigation, and video. However, in heavy multitasking, the two Cortex-A75 cores already lag significantly behind newer mid-range SoCs.

The T620's performance results depend on the specific device, memory, cooling, and firmware settings.

Even among devices with the same SoC, the difference in Geekbench 6 Multi can exceed 10%. Therefore, around 1500 points is just a benchmark for the T620: a specific model may be significantly faster or slower.

Why AnTuTu Results Exceed 400,000

For the T620, scores around 440-450 thousand points can be found, but these are typically results from AnTuTu 11.

For example, the itel S25 Ultra scores about 328 thousand points in AnTuTu 10 and around 444 thousand in AnTuTu 11. These figures cannot be directly compared: AnTuTu 11 uses a different testing methodology and scoring system.

Mali-G57 MP1 - The Main Limitation of T620

The T620 features a Mali-G57 MP1 with only one graphics core. It doesn’t create issues in the interface and simple games, but demanding games quickly hit its low performance ceiling.

The Teclast T65 with the T620 scores about 570 points in 3DMark Wild Life. In GFXBench Aztec Ruins Normal, the result is approximately 6.6 FPS, and in 1080p Offscreen mode, around 7.4 FPS.

In comparison, the Teclast T70 with Helio G99 scores approximately 1200 points in 3DMark Wild Life-more than double.

The T620 is primarily aimed at simple games and low graphics settings. One shouldn’t expect stable 60 FPS in heavy projects.

12-nm Process Technology and Only 4G

The Tiger T620 is manufactured using TSMC's 12-nm process technology and is equipped only with a 4G modem-5G support is absent.

It supports LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 or eMMC 5.1 storage.

In the Teclast T65, there is no noticeable drop in performance under prolonged load, so throttling does not appear to be a significant issue for this platform.

T620 Against Snapdragon 680, Snapdragon 685, and Helio G99

In overall performance, the T620 is positioned roughly between the Snapdragon 680 and Snapdragon 685.

The T620 is significantly faster than the T616 and slightly outpaces the Snapdragon 680 in overall AnTuTu score. The Snapdragon 685 is faster, and the advantage of the Helio G99 is especially pronounced in graphical tests.

The closest benchmark for the T620 is the Snapdragon 680; the Helio G99 belongs to a faster category.

Conclusion: When to Choose the Unisoc T620

The T620 is primarily aimed at truly budget smartphones and tablets. It is notably faster than the T606 and T616 and is roughly on par with the Snapdragon 680, but the weak Mali-G57 MP1 limits gaming capabilities.

If a device with the T620 is significantly cheaper than alternatives with the Snapdragon 685 or Helio G99, there’s no need to overpay for a faster chip. However, at a similar price, it’s better to choose the Helio G99: it is faster overall, and the graphical advantage can exceed two times.
