Intel Celeron N4500: Performance and Relevance in 2026

The Intel Celeron N4500 was released in 2021 for budget laptops, Chromebooks, and compact systems. The processor uses 2 Tremont cores without Hyper-Threading, operates at up to 2.8 GHz, and has a TDP of 6 W. Compared with the Celeron N4020, single-threaded performance is higher, but two cores are insufficient for active multitasking.

Performance

In Geekbench 6.7, the Celeron N4500 scores around 460 points on average in single-threaded mode and 710 points in multi-threaded mode.

Processor Cores / threads Geekbench 6.7 Single Core Geekbench 6.7 Multi Core
Intel Celeron N4020 2 / 2 400 706
Intel Celeron N4500 2 / 2 460 710
Intel Celeron N5100 4 / 4 476 1378
Intel Processor N100 4 / 4 1195 2937

The N4500 is noticeably faster than the N4020 in the single-threaded test, but their multi-threaded results are almost identical. With similar single-threaded performance, the quad-core N5100 is roughly twice as fast in the multi-threaded test.

The Processor N100 is approximately 2.6 times faster than the N4500 on a single core and more than 4 times faster in multi-threaded Geekbench 6.7.

The N4500 handles documents, several browser tabs, email, and video playback. During video calls, with a large number of tabs open, or with several background applications running, two cores are no longer sufficient. The N4500 is too slow for photo processing, video editing, and compilation.

Integrated Graphics

The Celeron N4500 is equipped with Intel UHD Graphics from the Jasper Lake generation, with 16 execution units. The GPU operates at frequencies ranging from 350 to 750 MHz.

In the ASUS BR1100FKA with a Celeron N4500 and 4 GB of memory, the integrated graphics scores 129 points in 3DMark Time Spy Graphics and 392 points in Fire Strike Graphics.

Older and undemanding games can be played at low resolution and minimum settings. Intel UHD Graphics is too slow for modern games.

Memory and Laptop Configuration

The N4500 supports DDR4 and LPDDR4x at up to 2933 MHz, with a maximum memory capacity of 16 GB. The memory controller operates in dual-channel mode.

On models with 4 GB of RAM and eMMC storage, applications launch more slowly, and switching between them is more often accompanied by delays. With 8 GB of memory and an SSD, the system is less likely to run into insufficient memory and slow storage.

Is It Worth Buying a Celeron N4500 in 2026?

In 2026, buying a laptop with a Celeron N4500 no longer makes sense. At the time of checking, the Lenovo V15 G2 IJL with an N4500 cost from €269, while laptops with the significantly faster Processor N100 can be found for around €200-300, depending on the memory, storage, and operating system.

Even on the used market, the N4500 should only be considered at a token price. It is still capable of handling documents, browsing, and video, but it has virtually no performance headroom, and 2 cores / 2 threads quickly become a limitation with any multitasking.

When buying a laptop in 2026, it is better to choose at least a Processor N100 or a faster Core/Ryzen model. The Celeron N4500 is already too slow for its low price to compensate for the platform’s limitations.

PCIe Version
?
PCI Express is a high-speed serial computer expansion bus standard used for connecting high-speed components, replacing older standards such as AGP, PCI, and PCI-X. It has gone through multiple revisions and improvements since its initial release. PCIe 1.0 was first introduced in 2002, and in order to meet the growing demand for higher bandwidth, subsequent versions have been released over time.

Instruction Set
?
The instruction set is a hard program stored inside the CPU that guides and optimizes CPU operations. With these instruction sets, the CPU can run more efficiently. There are many manufacturers that design CPUs, which results in different instruction sets, such as the 8086 instruction set for the Intel camp and the RISC instruction set for the ARM camp. x86, ARM v8, and MIPS are all codes for instruction sets. Instruction sets can be extended; for example, x86 added 64-bit support to create x86-64. Manufacturers developing CPUs that are compatible with a certain instruction set need authorization from the instruction set patent holder. A typical example is Intel authorizing AMD, enabling the latter to develop CPUs compatible with the x86 instruction set.
