Helio G200 vs Dimensity 7025: why the newer chip turned out to be slower
The Helio G200 was released later than the Dimensity 7025 but is weaker. The Dimensity features more modern Cortex-A78 cores, a higher frequency for performance cores, and a noticeable lead in Geekbench 6. The Helio G200 competes primarily on smartphone pricing rather than performance.
| Characteristic | MediaTek Helio G200 | MediaTek Dimensity 7025 |
|---|---|---|
| Process Technology | 6 nm | 6 nm |
| Performance Cores | 2 × Cortex-A76, up to 2.2 GHz | 2 × Cortex-A78, up to 2.5 GHz |
| Efficiency Cores | 6 × Cortex-A55, up to 2.0 GHz | 6 × Cortex-A55, up to 2.0 GHz |
| GPU | Mali-G57 MC2, up to 1.1 GHz | IMG BXM-8-256 |
| RAM | LPDDR4X | LPDDR5 / LPDDR4X |
| Storage | UFS 2.2 | UFS 3.1, 2 lanes |
| Mobile Network | 4G LTE | 5G |
| Camera | up to 200 MP | up to 200 MP |
The identical 6-nm process technology doesn’t prevent the Dimensity 7025 from being faster: its Cortex-A78 performance cores are more modern than the Cortex-A76 in the Helio G200 and operate at a higher frequency.
CPU Performance
In Geekbench 6, the Helio G200 scores an average of about 727 points in single-core performance and 1975 in multi-core performance. The Dimensity 7025 scores approximately 969 and 2321 points, respectively.
The Dimensity 7025 is about 33% faster in single-thread tasks and 18% faster under full-core load. This advantage is especially noticeable during application launches, web browser usage, and other short workloads.
Benchmarks in Specific Smartphones
The table below shows the results of specific smartphones from a single test database. Geekbench is listed in version 6, AnTuTu in version 11.
| Smartphone | Processor | Geekbench 6 Single | Geekbench 6 Multi | AnTuTu 11 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TECNO Spark 40 Pro+ | Helio G200 | 740 | 1946 | 616,665 |
| Infinix Hot 60 Pro | Helio G200 | 724 | 1927 | 597,685 |
| Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ | Helio G200 | 734 | 2008 | 613,238 |
| Motorola Moto G55 5G | Dimensity 7025 | 1008 | 2366 | 630,805 |
| Motorola Moto G64 5G | Dimensity 7025 | 1024 | 2472 | 557,820 |
On specific smartphones, the Dimensity 7025 maintains its advantage, especially in single-threaded Geekbench 6.
In terms of total AnTuTu score, the gap nearly disappears. For example, the Moto G64 scores lower than some smartphones with Helio G200 despite having a faster CPU. AnTuTu accounts for CPU, GPU, memory, and storage speed, so the overall result heavily depends on the specific device.
Graphics and Gaming
The Helio G200 is equipped with Mali-G57 MC2 with a frequency of up to 1.1 GHz, while the Dimensity 7025 uses IMG BXM-8-256.
In the GPU section of AnTuTu 11, the Helio G200 scores about 50,000 points, while the Dimensity 7025 scores around 60,000. These results should be considered approximate: there is no direct comparison of the two GPUs in the same version of 3DMark here.
Both chips are suitable for less demanding games and moderate graphics settings. In heavy projects, performance overhead is limited. The faster Cortex-A78 cores give the Dimensity 7025 additional headroom in CPU-dependent games.
Connectivity, Memory, and Storage
The Dimensity 7025 is significantly more modern in terms of peripherals: it supports 5G, LPDDR5, and UFS 3.1. The Helio G200 is limited to 4G, LPDDR4X, and UFS 2.2.
A specific smartphone is not required to utilize LPDDR5 or UFS 3.1 - this depends on the manufacturer.
What to Choose
The Dimensity 7025 is noticeably faster than the Helio G200. Its main advantage is the faster CPU; additionally, it offers 5G support as well as LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 support.
The Helio G200 should only be considered in significantly cheaper smartphones or models with a better display, battery life, and other features.
When comparing similar prices, the choice is clear - go with the Dimensity 7025. The Helio G200 is worth considering only for significant savings or substantially better smartphone features. Its later release does not grant it a performance advantage.
