The difference in frequency is minimal: 2.5 GHz versus 2.4 GHz. The main advantage of Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 comes from the Cortex-A720 and Cortex-A520 architecture. Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 uses the older Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55.

Geekbench shows a relatively small gap between the platforms. In single-core tests, Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is about 14% faster, and in multi-core, 10-12% faster.

In AnTuTu, the difference increases. Smartphones with Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 score around 620,000 points, while models with Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 show between 757,000 and 795,000. The final results are affected not only by the CPU and GPU but also by memory and storage speed, so these metrics cannot be compared separately from specific smartphones.

CPU Performance

Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 scores around 1160-1170 points in single-core Geekbench 6. The result for Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is in the range of 1010-1030 points.

The advantage of the higher platform is evident in image processing, file unpacking, and other short loads on one or two cores. In typical interfaces, the difference may be less noticeable: app launch speeds are also affected by storage, memory size, and firmware quality.

In multi-core mode, Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 scores around 3240-3250 points compared to 2890-2960 for Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Both chips have eight cores, so the higher model is faster but does not shift into a different performance class.

Graphics and Gaming

The main advantage of Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is the Adreno 810 graphics. In 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Unlimited, smartphones with this GPU score around 1040-1060 points.

Adreno 710 in Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 shows scores from 793 to 901 points. The difference between Motorola Moto G75 and Samsung Galaxy A36 reaches 14%, even though both smartphones use the same processor. This demonstrates how much the result depends on cooling and power limits.

Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is better suited for demanding games. It allows for more frequent use of medium or higher graphics settings and maintains frame rates more consistently. On Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, modern games also run, but in the most demanding projects, it may be necessary to lower shadow quality, effects, or render resolution.

Support for screens with refresh rates of up to 144 Hz on Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 does not in itself mean that games will run at 144 frames per second. It simply allows manufacturers to install faster displays. Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is designed for screens up to 120 Hz.

Cameras

Both platforms support cameras with resolutions of up to 200 MP and 4K HDR video recording at 30 frames per second. Therefore, the number of megapixels in the main camera does not determine which smartphone will take better photos.

The differences relate to image processing without shutter lag:

Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 supports INT4 computing and is better suited for running compact neural network models. This can be used for image processing, speech recognition, and local generative AI functions.

For now, this is more of a future-proofing measure. The available features depend on firmware and applications, so having a more powerful neural network block does not guarantee a noticeable difference in everyday use.

Which One to Choose

Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is preferable at a similar price for smartphones. It is faster in processor tasks and significantly stronger in games thanks to the Adreno 810 graphics. The added cost is especially justified for demanding applications, photo processing, and resource-intensive games.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 makes sense at a significantly lower price. Its performance is sufficient for browsing, video, navigation, social media, and most everyday applications.

If a smartphone with Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 offers a better display, longer support, or a larger battery, the higher processor does not always justify the extra cost. But with comparable specifications, Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is a more advantageous platform with a significantly greater margin of graphics performance.
